Does jPen require installation?
No. jPen is a portable application. On Windows, just run the .exe. On macOS, open the DMG and drag to Applications. On Linux, make the AppImage executable and run it.
Does jPen work on touchscreens and interactive TVs?
Yes. jPen includes TV Mode with larger hit targets, coalesced pointer events for smooth stylus strokes, and palm rejection so accidental touches are ignored while you draw.
What is the difference between Free and Pro?
Free gives you all annotation tools, whiteboard mode (1 tab), region screenshot, TV mode and the colour eyedropper. Pro adds unlimited whiteboard tabs, image import, save/load .jpen files, PDF export and screen recording.
Can I use jPen on 2 computers?
Yes. Each Pro licence allows 2 device activations. You can deactivate a machine at any time from the customer portal to free up a slot.
Is this a subscription?
No. jPen Pro is a one-time payment. You own the licence permanently and receive all v1.x updates for free.
Does the screenshot tool capture my annotations?
Yes. The region screenshot tool composites your pen strokes, shapes and highlights on top of the desktop screenshot before cropping, so you get a single image with everything in it.
Does screen recording capture annotations?
Yes. Because jPen draws directly on a transparent overlay window, all annotations are captured in the video naturally — no post-processing needed.
What happens if I am offline?
jPen works fully offline. The licence is validated online once when activated, then cached locally. If you have been online within the past 7 days, the app works with no network connection at all.
